Welcome to the Corner Inlet Fisheries Habitat Association Network!

The Corner Inlet Fisheries Habitat Association Inc. (CIFHA) was established in the year 2000 by the commercial fishers of the Corner Inlet Fishery to facilitate and encourage better habitat protection and stewardship for our local marine resource. This initiative is a demonstration of the integrity and respect these fishers have for the wild resource of Corner Inlet.

Corner Inlet has been fished commercially since European settlement in the area, and previously as a food source by local Indigenous people. Current State licencing limits and Fisheries Regulations limit the numbers of commercial fishermen, and therefore the effects of commercial fishing on the environment and ecosystems.

Whilst this ensures that the current and future catch is within acceptable community and scientific expectations, CIFHA members wish to contribute further to the ongoing sustainability of the wild resource in Corner Inlet.

CIFHA actively engages with Government, Victorian Fisheries Authority, Landcare, Gippsland Ports and other stakeholders to ensure the Corner Inlet Fishery remains sustainable for both commercial and recreational fishers into the future.

Regular meetings of CIFHA members are held to ensure these goals are met.
